The representatives of 25 indigenous organizations from the Peruvian and Brasilian Amazon, and the Representative Organizations of the entire Amazon Basin will meet in Lima on the 8th and 9th of December. The meeting and subsequent public event on December 9th at the Ministry of Culture headquarters in Lima, will consolidate an alliance led by the Organization of the Indigenous Peoples of the Eastern Amazon (ORPIO)

The Study will be formally presented on the 9th in front of high-level government officials and representatives of civil society, the ORPIO and other international indigenous organizations will present the plan to protect Corridor. The Study documents the existence of diverse continuous indigenous peoples in isolation who inhabit the 16-million-hectare tropical forest Corrido. This is likely the highest concentration of isolated indigenous peoples in the world

The formal presentation will commence sharply at 10 a.m. in the Ministry of Culture headquarters in Lima, Peru. All government mandated COVID 19 safter protocols will be enforced.

The Corridor is located among the departments of Loreto and Ucayali in Peru, and Amazonas and Acre en Brazil. The vast Corridor is buffered by indigenous communities and municipalities who will all be stakeholders in the protection plan.

This inciative, spearheaded by ORPIO, is also supported by the Indigenous Organization of Ucayali (ORAU), the United Peoples of Javari (UNIVAJA), and counts on the backing of the Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Amazon (AIDESEP), and the Coordinating Organization Indigenous Peoples of the Amazon Basin (COICA)
